Avery the Trooper

Sometimes it's easy to look at Avery in all her physical fragility and forget that she really is a trooper and can handle anything that's thrown at her. She had a full day of school today in preparation for Rudi's surgery on Friday when she'll have to be there all day. She did wonderfully, of course, because she's a tough little cookie! So, here's a little ode to my littlest girl, the one who was born (freakishly) with her eyes open and alert (literally, she came out of me with her eyes wide open), who's hands were never in the newborn balls, but rather open and grasping. The kid who never liked the cradle-hold, preferring to be upright and looking around. The girls who is so big now she can write her name, having taught herself by observation. Such a little warrior, in a tiara of course!
