The girls actually went outside and played in the snow. Not altogether remarkable for Riley, but a very rare occurrence with Avery. Riley was dying to try out her snowshoes. She had fun running around in them. Avery, I think, is heavy enough for her own, so we'll keep our eyes out for end-of-winter sales. She certainly wants a pair, but I can't tell if she wants them because she want to use them, or if she wants them because everyone else in the family has a pair. Ah, well, if we can get them as cheap as we got Riley's, it's no biggie.
While Riley was outside, she was looking up at the icicles hanging off the roof. One of them fell off and hit her square between the eyes, causing a bloody scratch down the length of her nose. Goodness, it could have put an eye out!! Rudi originally told me that she fell down and hit her face on ice, but Riley told me that the icicle hit her in the face and then she fell down. That's the downside of having a almost-deaf husband, he doesn't always get the full story correctly. These icicles are so huge, about 4 feet long and as thick as my arm. Luckily they were on the sunny side of the house and softened by the sun a bit, otherwise it could have stabbed through Riley's brain! ((Shudder))
Riley made a snow cat and a snow bunny. The neighbor kids were out and had a grand old time playing on the pile of snow between our houses. And I got to stay inside :)

Avery laying in the snow??? Unheard of!!! |

Nothing like falling asleep with a book after a cold play in the snow!! |

Snow cat. Note the icicle tail! The snow bunny was taken on my phone and I can't seem to get it to download to the computer. Oh, well, better luck next time! |
