Father's Day at the Zoo...

...without the father! We promised the girls that we would take them to the zoo on Mother's Day, but I wasn't feeling well that day, so we postponed it. Then the girls asked if we could go to the zoo on Father's Day, and we agreed. Then, Rudi woke up on Father's Day not feeling well, so we decided that I would take the kids to the zoo myself so that he could rest in peace and quiet.
It's also funny what Riley has learned from when we went camping: be prepared. She packed a backpack with water, some snacks, sunscreen, her Junior Ranger hat. Just cute.
It was a super-hot day, so the sprinkler thingies were just so refreshing, as were the expensive but oh-so-worth it slushies. Even though they turned our teeth colors LOL.

(Riley examining the meerkats)
(Isn't my girl getting big?!)
(Avery LOVED the animal benches)
(Petting the baby wallaby!)
(I was a bird-catching MANIAC! All the other kids kept trying to take the girls birds because their parents were lame at catching birds. I even caught a cockatiel, and the are normally very aloof! I'm awesome LOL)
(Riley and her tongue. Thank you, ice skating, you started it all!)
(Riley loved the map, finding where we were and where we wanted to go and figuring out directions. She was quite a natural at it! I guess it's part of being an explorer!)
(Sprinklers and soaking wet children!)
I still stick my tongue out! :) Must be genetic.
