Riley's Dress

This dress kicked my butt. I had to rip seams galore. I am not used to working with directional fabrics, and sewed one of the skirt panels on upside down. Yay. Then, when sewing the skirt onto the bodice, I caught a fold of the bodice in the seam, and had to rip about 7 inches of small stitches. If that weren't enough, I caught a fold of the bodice in the seam AGAIN after the first time. Ugh. Then, when ripping the seam, I cut a very small slit in the bodice fabric. I almost passed out, until I realized that the slit would be covered by the attached apron band. I satin stitched over it and continued. I was glad when that was over with. I'm going to Scotchguard the bodice and apron, though. The fabric is a lot closer to white than I pictured. I can't trust Riley with a white bodice!

On the bright side, I figured out a way to repair needle holes in seam-ripped fabric. Wet a tooth brush and gently scrub and the holes will close up perfectly. Of course, I learned the hard way...

Ignore Riley's hair in these pictures. She had just finished putting a butt-load of my anti-frizz product in her hair.
